Plant Joy & Laughter into the Weekend

At long last, the long weekend has arrived. We have some tips to help you enjoy your time off. Regardless of stay at home restrictions, we believe you can find joy and laughter in a pandemic. (Just check out the hairstyles around you!)

Some Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted in Alberta. Check out this article May long weekend: What you can and can’t do in Alberta during COVID-19 for guidance. To begin, some hair salons and barbers will be open to help take your haircut from hippy to urban chic in no time.

And keep in mind that 'not all sports are cancelled'. Do you detect a little Canadian influence in this hilarious 'curling at home' video?

Next, you may want to head to a garden centre to get ready for planting season. And if you don't have access to a garden, a walk or drive to a park is not out completely of the question.

Or enjoy some fresh air and increase food security at the same time! Check out Operation Fruit Rescue Edmonton (OFRE). We enthusiastically support the efforts of this local non-profit to rescue backyard fruit and reduce hunger. OFRE connects volunteers with opportunities to pick fruit. A third of all fruit collected is then donated to local charities.

OFRE will continue to organize fruit rescues this year. Fruit picks will follow all safety guidelines recommended by Alberta Health. Get outdoors and make a contribution to community health. Check out OFRE's website today. Become a member, contribute your backyard fruit or join the board. Opportunities are fruitful!

Whatever you do this weekend, please maintain physical distancing.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay positive.
